Equipamentos Extraordinários, Basurama, São Paulo Brasil, 2014

I’m always impressed at Basurama’s ability to maximize both the play AND design possibilities of ordinary materials…their construction of cable spools and climbing nets was an urban intervention for the Virada Cultural organized by the city council of  São Paulo.    Sometimes playgrounds made of found and recycled components look a mess.  Adding a repetitive motif, like Basurama did with their triangles, pulls it all together into a cohesive whole.  Well done!  (Thanks, Angela!)

Don’t forget that you can also make your own slide from a cable spool and a roadsign, thanks to DIY instructions from our friends at ZidZid Kids.  See the sidebar!
