Reclaimed Trees for the Maggie Daley Park Play Garden

Reclaimed trees for the new Maggie Daley Park Play Garden in Chicago, drying off for installation later this year…I look forward to seeing what  MVVA will do with them.

Im wondering the exact same thing, Meagan! Part of a parent committee working on our elementary school’s natural playscape in rainy rainy Portland Oregon. The school wants something that will last and I’m not sure this type of wood fits the bill. The circular milled robinia (false acacia) featured in so many of the naturescapes in europe makes me wonder. Perhaps Kukuk or another one of those designers lays out their method of wood prep?

I’d love any info you can share on HOW they are doing this (drying, treating, ground conact prep, etc). I’m trying to do something similar in my backyard on a smaller scale and I’m really just guessing on how to keep eerything from rotting
